Personal transformation

Twelve months. Same hairline. Real density.

Self-shot monthly progression that holds up in clinic Instagrams and r/HairTransplants posts.

The pain

When you don't see much result happening in the second third month you start to panic.

How Lign solves it

The features that line up for this exact use case.

  1. Pick the anchor that fits the journey

Pupils for full-face progress, Mouth Corners for smiles, Shoulders for body-recomp shots, or Manual mode if you want to tap a doorframe or mirror edge yourself. The Quick picker holds the essentials; the Advanced picker covers the full set of about twenty-eight landmarks.

  2. Three alignment modes, Smart by default

Smart finds the rotation angle that minimizes movement across every photo. Clean Edges adds an inscribed content rectangle so the rotated frames have no empty corners. Level snaps each photo to a horizontal anchor for the look most progress posts default to.

  3. Export to the aspect ratio you actually post in

9:16 for Reels and Stories, 1:1 for the grid, 4:5 for the in-feed portrait crop, 16:9 for landscape, or Original to keep your source framing. Per-photo duration, loop count, and a Hold-last-photo option for the reveal frame all live in the video export settings.

The hair-transplant journey is twelve months of self-shot monthly photos under wildly inconsistent bathroom lighting. Day-0 surgery, week-2 scab-off, month-3 ugly-duckling panic, month-6 “is this working?”, month-9 visible density, month-12 reveal. Most patients post the gallery on r/HairTransplants when they hit month 12. One regular on a hair-loss forum (Gveras83) put month 3 in plainer words than any clinic brochure ever has: “when you don’t see much result happening in the second third month you start to panic.”

The problem is that the twelve photos don’t look like the same person. Different angles, different lighting, different distances. The grow-in is real but you have to squint to see it.

Lign anchors the eyebrow center and nose tip to the same pixel on every photo. Hairline drift between months disappears. What’s left is the actual change: density coming in. Use it for the month-12 reveal post, the clinic Instagram submission, or the “1-year-anniversary” gallery.

Works the same way for beard growing, eyebrow regrowth, or any hair journey that takes long enough that you can’t hold the camera still for the whole thing.

Landmarks used

  • Pupils (eye-level reference)
  • Manual landmark (hairline corners, eyebrow center)
  • Mouth corners (full face shots)

See it line up

Two ways to see what alignment buys you.

Drag the slider for the still comparison; scrub the flipbook for the motion. The frames here are stand-ins drawn from the in-app pet morph; the use-case capture lands with Phase 8.5.

Pet morph: puppy to adult, eyes anchored to the same point.
Pet morph flipbook, four frames anchored on the eye landmark.
Scrub the line. The eyes stay put.

About that one thing

I don't have a tripod.

Right, no one does. Lign was built for the phone on the bathroom shelf, the timer, the slightly different angle every week. The alignment is the part Lign handles, so the framing drift you cannot avoid stops mattering. Tap two anchor points (a doorframe edge, the mirror corner, your shoulders) and every photo locks to them. The bump grows. The shoulders broaden. The room stays put.

Questions, answered.

I had a transplant in Turkey. The clinic asked for monthly photos. How do I make them comparable?
Set up the same shot (front-on, eye-level, neutral expression) and use Lign's Manual mode to tap two anchor points like eyebrow center plus nose tip on each monthly photo. Lign locks every frame to those points. The clinic gets a clean grow-in instead of twelve photos under different bathroom lighting.
Why does month 3 always look bad?
It's the ugly duckling phase. Shock loss is in full swing, transplanted hairs have shed, and density looks worse than pre-op for a few weeks. It is normal. Photos that line up help you see that month 5 is already better than month 3, instead of panicking. The aligned timeline is the panic-killer.
What about beard growing?
Same approach. Manual mode with two anchor points (e.g. lip corners) gives you a "100-day beard" timelapse that holds the face still while the beard grows in.
